going out.?
I only paid $5.00 for the machine, because I got it at a Goodwill store. It was working at the time I bought it, but now the machine isn't reading disks anymore. It started with a jitter in the DVD picture, and now it won't read anything at all. I have had some experience in replacing DVD drives in PC's before. From what I understand, an X-Box isn't that much different--or is it?

I would send it to get fixed, it will probably cost you, but if you try to fix it yourself something could go wrong, even if you kinda know what your doing, which could lead to bigger repair costs.. send it in, unless you reeaally know what your doing, hope this helps :)

If you follow a intructional video on replacing the dvd driver or repairing it your xbox should be fine. Look on youtube for instructional videos.

if you're confident you know how to do it, then by all means go for it. However, it will void any and all warranties that are still in effect.
