Would it be strange to greet someone in a highschool hallway?

I'm a junior in highschool and still feel like a freshman, socially. I want to get to know more people and I want people to get to know me and remember me. Sometimes, I pass people in my classes in the hallway on the way to lunch, in between classes, and at the end of the day. Would it be weird to say, "Hi, Michelle!" or "Bye, Mallorie!" if I were to see people I know of in the hallway? Personally, I think it would brighten my day, but anything makes me happy. I've also read that it makes people feel important if you greet them and even more important if you use thier names.

What do you think? Thanks for your opinions!!!

I think you should go ahead and do it.

The people you want to be your friends will think well of you, and the people you really don't want to be your friends will just be assholes as always.

u would sound like you have a mental disorder or something trust me, i have a friend who says hi to people like that and every one thinks he is retarded, but her really has add, just say hi to them in class.

Us "dudes" just sorta nod an acknowledgment of each others' presence with a fraction of a second of eye contact, too long and it's either hostile or tooooo friendly, I thought girls smile and wave, nothing needy - 'zat about right?
