It's about a sixteen-year-old boy who is the son of a lumberjack and lives on the outskirts of a village. One day, he is chopping wood when his dog strays into the forest and leads him to an ambush between goblins and some of the king's men. The boy isn't able to do anything about the ambush but sees that the goblins are trying to steal the Crown.

He doesn't know why and also sees a dark wizard amongst the goblins wrecking havoc on the king's men. So he steals the crown and escapes in the confusion. Knowing that he has to return it, he sneaks off on a mission to do just that but the wizard saw him and sends his henchmen after him. He makes friends with other Races (elves, dwarves, and such) along the way and a few people join him on his quest to return the Crown. When he gets to the royal palace, however, he finds out that it is under siege by the dark wizard and his army.

To make matters worse, the king is in a comma-like state that can only be changed if he gets the Crown back. They discover secret passageways under the castle and try to get in but it's tough since there are monsters and magical things in the tunnels almost worse than the wizard and his army. So it's a race against time as he strives to return the Crown and save the day. There will also be some romance in it and it's not such a hardcore, end of the world fantasy novel. It is more of a light-hearted, comedy, adventure romance fling if you get my meaning. There are dark moments but they aren't too *dark*.

Any thoughts?
Okay, 'why' is a good point but basically the dark wizard was the ex-court magician who put a curse on the Crown so that when the king put it on in the morning he passed out and never woke up. Then he laid seige to the city but before that some of the king's most loyal men took the crown to get it fixed by a loyal witch (or wizard or magical creature) who lived far away as a hermit. However, the dark wizard got wind of their escape and ambushed them on the way back. They already fixed the Crown though so that's why the dark wizard doesn't want them to get it back to the king and tries to foil the hero's quest at every turn. One of the wounded men tells him this during the fight (not in an elaborate speech as that would be a Mary Sue) and he agrees to take it back to the king. Hope that helps to clear some plot holes up!!
