...haired cat properly? A long haired tomcat regularly calls by our house. He's sweet but is a terrible mess - tangled, matted hair with fleas teeming inside the lumps of fur. I've tried combing him (I have two long-haired cats myself who are combed daily) but he's beyond being combed. I've phoned the number on his collar and know he lives about 600 metres away. I told the owner that I thought he must be lost as he was in such a sorry condition. He said he wasn't and would find his own way home. At the risk of being verbally abused(!) I said that the cat was badly matted and he agreed, saying it was a job for the vet and he'd take him. This still hasn't happened. What would you do?

poor cat

It's been a week and i hope it's not to late,But i would take the pet in and help it if i was in u'r shoes.the poor thing has been mistreated because cats naturally keep them selfs clean unless there surroundings creates a harmfull threat to them it's only natural that the cat came to u because it could tell that there was no danger there.Pets are the best thing u could ever have because if u treat them good they return it unlike humans the value of kindness out weighs the dollar.
