xbox live problem messes up internet?

i can connect to xbox live but when im don't and i hook the internet cord back to the computer i cant get on the internet then i would have to call the cable men. is there any way to prevent this i haven't updated my acc since January. (i use direct modem setup don't got a router)

You probably have a virus that is rerouting your internet when you try and go on it. What you have to do is boot into safe mode with networking (turn reboot computer and hold F8 the whole time you're booting up), then log in and see if internet works. If it does, then you have a virus. If you don't something else is wrong with it.

But if you can access internet in safe mode, download Malware Bytes (it's free) and run it. It'll delete the virus and you should be good to go.
