You can go to jail if you break something of your spouses while you guys are arguing?

I was watching the tv show "COPS"... and the officer on there said in that state you could go to jail for breaking something of your spouses while being pissed off. It's domestic violence stuff.
But what state did they said that was in?
Is there anywhere I can go to find out that information?

Sure just google domestic viokence laws in your state.

It can be either disorderly conduct or domestic abuse. And most states will prosecute that without the other party having to press charges.

I've never heard of that. I mean if you strike someone bang your going to jail. No I do know this, once my ex broke into my home and damaged a bunch of crap and only was charged with the breaking in. Go figure,
