    Dvd-r not being recognized.?

    I Bought 5-6 Dvd-r's a while back.Now when i put them into the drive of my laptop it doesnt recognize it. Why is this happening? P.S:My laptop recognizes Cd-r's And Cd-rw's.But not dvd's

    Do Verbatim DVD-R allow you to burn music on it?

    Is it only for burning movies for the DVD on it, or can i burn music on it and listen to it in the car, How come when i burned movies on it, when i put it in my DVD it says check CD, but on my computer it works but windows mediaplayer only allows the volume of the movie but shows no screen?
