I would like to purchase a vhs/dvd player to transfer my old vhs family tapes to dvd. Very frustrating process since the reviews on these machines are often very poor. Is there anything out there that actually works? It is very expensive to send them out from transfer.

I have a bunch of VHS tapes, camcorder tapes and recorded DVR shows (recorded on Dish DVR).
I would like to convert all of them in to DVD's.
How do I do accomplish this? Is there a single item (DVD recorder) with which I can do everything..
