Lately my parents have been yelling at me for having lost some weight (about 20 lbs) over the past year. (I've been overweight for most of my short life)...They blame my recently slow growth (I'm 5'8 - my parents are 5'5 and 5'2/3) on this fact. This is what happened:

Over the past year, I've significantly reduced my food intake in all meals, not so much for breakfast or lunch. I've COMPLETELY cut out junk food and I've developed the habit of eating VERY slowly. BUT MOST importantly, I am sometimes quite concerned about the fat/carbs content in the food I consume... (but not obsessed) Obviously, I do not purge or anything. ALSO, I feel a small amount of guilt when I eat after 8:30 P.M....The thing is, however,

-I did not really increase my amount of exercise significantly.
-I haven't been obsessively counting calories, ALTHOUGH I have researched some caloric/nutrition information and retained some of the info.
-I do reluctantly accept to eat "junk" foods in scarce amounts once in a while
-I make sure that I get all my nutrients, and I guess I get at least 2000 calories per day. (for instance, I drink at least 4 cups of milk a day)
-I DO realize my possible problem and am trying now to eat more.

But just to make sure: Do I have an eating disorder, or am I just a healthy 15 year old boy?
The thing that made me ask this question is the fact that I feel a bit estranged when other kids in my grade are eating 10 cupcakes each with EASE, but I can't even force myself to eat 1!!!
what do you think about this?
OOPS I'm 140 lbs

It seems like you are just eating healthier, and making healthier choices, if ur not purging, starving yourself, or anything like that then i don't think u have an eating disorder. It sounds like you are a healthy 15 yr old, so keep it up, but don't obsess too much.

You haven't stated one very important fact: your weight!

BUT if you were heavy before the 20 lb. loss, I see no problem at all.

What you are describing sounds to me like a *completely* reasonable approach to diet. Why try to eat more? If you are not physically active, 2000 calories is plenty. From your description of your and your parents' height, you are probably just about done growing.

One thing I *would* recommend is becoming more physically active. A sufficient amount of physical activity helps your body maintain its ideal weight, which is the weight that is right for *you*, not a number from a chart.

No, what you are describing sounds like a very healthy approach.

email me if you have any further question.
