i am 19 male and want to get a car. to do this i was told i need to:
1. pick a car i am thinking of getting
2. check with different insurance companies how much the insurance would cost for the car

i have NO IDEA how to do step number 2! can someone give me a list of insurance companies to call maybe? or is there a website? I AM ABSOLUTELY NEW TO THIS! ANY HELP AND/OR TIPS IS APPRECIATED

BTW i live in Ontario more specifically Toronto

Go to any major car ins. company for a quote.
BTW expect to pay high rates as you are a new, young & inexperienced driver.

Uh, #2 says "check with different insurance companies blah blah blah". That means get on the phone & ask them. They will probably need the VIN (or at the very least year, make, & model). They''ll ask for your DL (that's your driver's license) number, also. It's not hard.

just google "car insurance toronto"
There must be tons of places with signs in the window

here, (BC) it's ICBC which is state-run, or at least they have a monoploy

grab the yellow pages and pick up the phone and start calling agents under insurance. Over here in the USA when you first get insurance, you are a high risk, and the premiums are higher for the first policy term, Also it is possible to get a six month quote, or a 12 month quote ( I don't know about you guys) find out first what the minimum policy limits are for your area, then make notes on a blank sheet of paper the policy limits, price and phone number for each agent you call, try to call as many agents as you can, you will get a variety of prices, some agents will ask for more by raising the limits , but if you can call 10 or 15 that gives a good representation for your locale. Usually your rates are higher the first time around for not having had previous insurance, don't get frustrated and get upset, it sucks, its probably higher than you want, but if you stay out of trouble (no tickets, and no accidents) when you get a renewal notice, this is like gold for you , because with a renewal notice you can get insured by almost anyone.

most of the insurance companies have two policy. 1st policy is fir, theft, and collision. if you went with this plan you might have a payment of 100 dolls to 400 dollars a month but this cover everthing. the 2nd is just liability. that will cover the other person car and medical bills along with just your medical bill. the highest will pay is like 250 a month
