My parents just told me that if I pay for the repairs to get my dad's 1994 Benz C280 out of the shop, it will mine. They just put all new tires and brakes on it, and it needs a new windshield wiper assembly, and a new ECM. I just ordered them, and should be here soon. Before the car went into the shop, it wasn't running well. Only 5 of the 6 cylinders were firing, so it ran very rough, and the idle went from about 500 to 1500 just sitting there. I need to order the mass-air sensor, which causes the fluctuation in idle speed, but what could be causing the misfire on the one cylinder? Could it be that it just needs the ECM replaced? We replaced the spark plugs only a month or two ago, and the wiring is all good, because we tested it all.
anyways, so after getting the work done, do you think (if it runs well) that I could take it on the 11-12 hour drive to Myrtle Beach this summer? Otherwise, everyone is packing into a small-sized SUV, which we don't really want to do. I think it will do fine, since it was still drivable before the repairs...
PLEASE - any input would be greatly appreciated.
