2 Questions: Before Jesus Christ and the Bible, how were people going to be judged...

babies automatically go to heaven.

And ever since the beginning of time, there have been prophets to lead people the right way. Starting with Adam, Noah, Moses, John, Jesus and lastly Muhammed. Every time period had a prophet to follow and worship the ONE God.

Babies that die, go to heaven.

Before Jesus, they had to believe in the promise of the coming of the Messiah to save. JESUS is the Messiah.

Today, a person must believe in JESUS for His free gift of eternal life in heaven, to be saved.

Nobody can be saved on judgment day. It is judgment!

The key is to avoid appearing at judgment day, and that is only by believing in JESUS for His free gift of eternal life in heaven! That easy! John 3:16! :D

We are all sinners.

And JESUS came to save sinners!

The truth about death is that death brings immediate heaven or hell, depending only on whether you believed in JESUS for His free gift of salvation, or not. There is no second chance to be saved, after death.

Heaven is eternal joy with the Lord! :D

The lake of fire is eternal separation from God, eternal torment, and eternal corruption. Nobody has to be sent to the lake of fire.

Nobody can "earn" heaven.

Because the TRUTH is that JESUS is the only acceptable SACRIFICE and PAYMENT for our sins, and we are all sinners. Nothing else pays for any of our sins. All the good deeds in the world won't pay for even ONE of our sins. All the "living a moral life" won't pay for even one of our sins. No "religions of the world" can pay for anyone's sins.

The truth is that Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins, and then Jesus rose from the dead. That is why Jesus had to die on the cross, because there is no other way for us to be saved. You must believe in Jesus for His free gift of salvation, to be saved! John 3:16! :D That easy to get into heaven!

Either Jesus already paid for a person's sins, or that person will be punished in eternal torment in the lake of fire. That is the choice before everyone.

So to be in heaven and not in hell, believe in Jesus for salvation RIGHT NOW!

Jesus is God, and Jesus loves you so very much! :D And the Trinity is true!

The truth about Jesus is that the only way to be saved and to get into heaven and avoid being sent to hell, is by believing in JESUS for His free gift of eternal life in heaven, believing in faith alone that Jesus, who is God, died on the cross for all our sins as FULL PAYMENT for all our sins, and then Jesus rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Believe in Jesus for His free gift of salvation, and you will be in heaven, no matter what! John 3:16, John 6:47! :D

Salvation is a FREE GIFT that happens in a split second when you believe in JESUS for His free gift of salvation! It is impossible to lose or "leave" salvation (John 6:39-40, John 10:28, 1 John 5:13).

Please pray now: "Jesus, I believe that You died on the cross to pay for my sins and that You rose from the dead, and I thank You for eternal life!" You will be in heaven with Him forever when you die! :D

I'm an atheist, but from a Biblical perspective, here's what I can infer.

They weren't.

Heaven was the domain of God and the angels in the old testament, but if you read the bible carefully until the new testament, NO ONE GOES TO HEAVEN. Even the concept of hell doesn't exist. A good example of this is the story where Joseph's brother's betray him and sell him as a slave in Egypt. Near the end of that particular story, Joseph's father expresses a desire to see Joseph again before he "descends into Sheol."

Sheol is the Jewish afterlife, reserved for all men who die, regardless of how moral or corrupt they were. This is because when mankind ate from the tree of life, he damned himself forever (as far as Judaism is concerned.) If you read the old testament, and study Jewish philosophy, God's rewards for man's moral behavior are all in this life (wealth, land, prosperity, military success, etc.) but there are no rewards for you after you die. Sheol is not a place of torture, but is instead best described as a gray and dreary place (Jewish afterlife philosophy probably borrows heavily from Sumerian cultural and religious influences on that point, for the afterlife in ancient Sumer was extremely pessimistic. The fact that you will not be judged after death is probably one reason why Jewish sects in the middle-east are able to commit genocide without a second thought, in spite of the fact that genocide was carried out against them in Germany.

(If I sound like an anti-semite, I'm not; I have friends who are Jews. I'm just of the opinion that most, though not all, of the problems Israel faces with it's neighbors are because it is beginning to instigate violent action, rather than simply retaliating for it.)

Christianity, then, is a radical departure from the past. Unlike Judaism, where man's purpose is to make the kingdom of God on Earth, Christ made it clear that no such kingdom was possible in this sinful world. only through benevolent intent could one be reunited with God in Heaven. Not only that, but Jews were no longer a favored race; now, anyone could be saved, something that probably caused much strife in the Jews ancient separatist societies. Jesus wasn't joking in the New testament when he said you would hate your family for him; he must have known what he said would cause violent divisions of family, tribes and governments.

As for babies, I really don't know how that works.

Maat and Osiris were going to oversee Anubis weigh your heart against the feather of truth. If it was heavier than the feather (meaning your life was full of lies and evil) then you heart would be fed to Ammit and your soul would cease to exist.

If, however, you had led a just life your heart would balance with the feather of truth. You would then pass on into the underworld.

un-baptized babies go to limbo according to one of the christian faiths (can't remember which one)

Before christianity people though they we're judged by a three-headed dog (Cerberus) or a collection of pagan dieties.

Death
Definition: The ceasing of all functions of life. After breathing, heartbeat, and brain activity stop, the life-force gradually ceases to function in body cells. Death is the opposite of life.
Was man created by God to die?
On the contrary, God warned Adam against disobedience, which would lead to death. (Gen. 2:17) Later, God warned Israel against conduct that would lead even to premature death for them. (Ezek. 18:31) In time he sent his Son to die on behalf of mankind so that those who would put faith in this provision might enjoy everlasting life.—John 3:16,*36.
Psalm 90:10 says that the usual human life span is 70 or 80 years. That was true when Moses wrote it, but that was not so from the beginning. (Compare Genesis 5:3-32.) Hebrews 9:27 says, “It is reserved for men to die once for all time.” This, too, was true when it was written. But it was not the case before God passed judgment on sinful Adam.
Why do we grow old and die?
God created the first human couple perfect, with the prospect of living forever. They were endowed with free will. Would they obey their Creator out of love and appreciation for all that he had done for them? They were fully capable of doing so. God told Adam: “As for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die.” Using a serpent as a mouthpiece, Satan enticed Eve to violate God’s command. Adam did not reprove his wife but joined her in eating that forbidden fruit. True to his word, God passed sentence of death upon Adam, but before executing the sinful pair, God mercifully permitted them to bring forth children.—Gen. 2:17; 3:1-19; 5:3-5; compare Deuteronomy 32:4 and Revelation 12:9.
Rom. 5:12, 17,*19: “Through one man [Adam] sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned—. .*.*. By the trespass of the one man death ruled as king .*.*. Through the disobedience of the one man many were constituted sinners.”
1*Cor. 15:22: “In Adam all are dying.”

???????Why do babies die??????????

Ps. 51:5, JB: “You know I was born guilty, a sinner from the moment of conception.” (See also Job 14:4; Genesis 8:21.)
Rom. 3:23; 6:23: “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God .*.*. The wages sin pays is death.”
God does not “take” children from their parents, as some have been told. Although the earth produces ample food, selfish political and commercial elements often hinder its distribution to those most in need, resulting in death due to malnutrition. Some children die in accidents, as adults do. But all of us have inherited sin; we are all imperfect. We were born in a system in which everyone—both the good and the bad—eventually dies. (Eccl. 9:5) But God ‘yearns’ to reunite children with their parents by means of the resurrection, and lovingly has made provision to do so.—John 5:28,*29; Job 14:14, 15; compare Jeremiah 31:15,*16; Mark 5:40-42.
?????Where are the dead?????
Gen. 3:19: “In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return.”
Eccl. 9:10: “All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol [“the grave,” KJ, Kx; “the world of the dead,” TEV], the place to which you are going.”
??????What is the condition of the dead??????
Eccl. 9:5: “The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all.”
Ps. 146:4: “His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground; in that day his thoughts [“thoughts,” KJ, 145:4 in Dy; “all his thinking,” NE; “plans,” RS, NAB] do perish.”
John 11:11-14: “‘Lazarus our friend has gone to rest, but I am journeying there to awaken him from sleep.’ .*.*. Jesus said to them outspokenly: ‘Lazarus has died.’” (Also Psalm 13:3)
Is there some part of man that lives on when the body dies?
Ezek. 18:4: “The soul [“soul,” RS, NE, KJ, Dy, Kx; “man,” JB; “person,” TEV] that is sinning—it itself will die.”
Isa. 53:12: “He poured out his soul [“soul,” RS, KJ, Dy; “life,” TEV; “himself,” JB, Kx, NAB] to the very death.” (Compare Matthew 26:38.)

Are the dead in any way able to help or to harm the living?
Eccl. 9:6: “Their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun.”
Isa. 26:14: “They are dead; they will not live. Impotent in death, they will not rise up.”

They had to have faith in God and the coming Messiah. Every author of Scripture had Faith in Christ and wrote about him. God doesn't punish his children if they are rejected, babies go to Heaven if they die and God will be there Father :D
