No.

In the 80's and 90's Kia's were bad.
They started to improve in 2000-2002.
From 2003 and on, they were considered average in reliability.

But the Kia Rio/Hyundai Accent are still bad cars. They are giving Kia and Hyundai a bad reputation. A Kia Spectra/Hyundai Elantra are much better cars at similar prices and fuel economy.

ok so i'm looking to buy a 2004 kia rio. it has 55,000 miles on it. its a standard and i'm just trying to get a few opinions on the car in general. thanks!
p.s.... i would like it if ppl didn't leave answers that aren't worth my time. thanks. "uhhhm no its a kia" is a good example of tht. details please!

dude it's widely regarded as one of the worst cars in automotive history. have you ever seen the top gear review of it, when it screeched to a halt on a mild hill?

honestly if you want a cheap car, buy one that's actually good and is actually comfortable and will be reliable. look at a golf, a jetta, or a corolla. you won't be sorry. trust me, you will be sorry if you buy a rio.
