2008 GMC Sierra trans temp 153...what does this mean?

there's a light on the dash that says the transmission temperature is 153 degrees. what does this mean?

It means that the transmission fluid temperature is 153*F. Anything under 210ish and your safe.

The temperature will climb as you drive more stop-and-go driving, or are towing a trailer. 153* is nice and cool.
