Actually, if you're having a rough time controlling thoughts of violence, sex, or hate, you may have an anxiety disorder. It's not normal to have absolutely no control over them.

But otherwise, you are correct, humans at times have random thoughts, and it's not our fault that we have them.

answer, all others please look as well? It is a well known fact in psychology that thoughts will rise from the unconscious. We have absolutely no control of the unconscious or whatever thoughts may rise. Many of these thoughts are about things such as love and gratitude as well as hate, sex, and violence.

In the bible it says that just the act of thinking about committing a sin such as lust, rape, violence, and hate is just as bad in god's eyes as actually committing the sin. The bible also states that god created humans and knows everything about us. If we have absolutely no control as to whether these thoughts pop up in our head and god made us that way then how can they be a sin. Doesn't it make more sense that the bible was written by MEN that had no understanding of the brain like we do today?

As for the understanding of MIND we are no more advanced than ancients.
We do not have control over what thoughts pop into our mind but we do control what we do with them, you can entartain a particular thought or turn your mind in a different direction.

I don't buy into the concept of sin.

Right and wrong is not determined by random thoughts. They are determined by behavior.

Men who wrote the bible in ancient times do not distinguish the role of the conscience to stop bad thoughts from becoming bad behavior.
