Abortion is Wrong

Apparently you don't if you even bothered to post a verse that clearly is a metaphor at least IMO. I've studied it my entire life since I was 5, so what does that have to do with anything?

The 'rod' is a pretty clear metaphor for beating. The bible does not expect you to go out and buy a special beating rod. It just expects you to abuse your children.

Here is a metaphor -

Aleister Crowley wrote that a white male child of purest innocence is the best sacrifice and that he made 150 of these a year

Anyone that thinks he meant killing an actual WASP child is a moron

"Stone your disobedient child to death in front of the village" - especially within the biblical historical context - is far less ambiguous

"Abortion is wrong" thread could also be called "common improper use of the English language in debate" thread

(or language in general, really)

I'm not going to compare anything Biblical to something that Crowley wrote or said. Actually... i've grown tired of your fishing and imperious posts... so I will now say ahn-nyoung.

I think there's a fuzzy line between reasonable discipline and abuse and many parents unknowingly stray across that line.

Personally, I think any form of spanking is a result of bad parenting. If you can't teach your kid how to behave without resorting to violence, then you're not doing the job properly.

This is a place where there will be differences of opinion - especially with regards to contentious matters. The fact you instantly fall back to "I won't even discuss..." rhetoric is an exceptionally weak stance. Chances of you actually knowing aught of Crowley? Zero

Perhaps you should leave the debate to those willing to actually DEBATE as opposed to accept anything at face value without question.

Well, I was spanked and many people I grew up with were too, and we all grew up to be very well adjusted individuals and got in a lot less trouble than the kids who were actually "abused" or had no disipline at all. We won't agree on this though so no point in heading down that road or off topic. I have hannibal and his follower on ignore now so it will be a much better debate for people who have sense and not a high and mighty attitude.

I suppose always easier to stick your fingers in your ears and go "nyah, nyah" rather than actually discuss things

That was another metaphor by the way - assuming you can see this by someone quoting it

Being a well adjusted individual is not the same as not getting into much trouble.

Also- congrats Hannibal on getting a follower!

I was really hoping to keep this conversation away from Bible quotes. But, since we're going that route...

Bible "Abortion" Quotes

Hosea asks God to make the women of Ephraim have miscarriages. God obliges.

A Biblical how-to guide for inducing a forced abortion in a wife suspected of adultery.

Moses, under direction from God, orders his army to murder all male children and pregnant women from Midianites, a region near modern Sudan, that he has just conquered. He orders the female children to be kept as slaves for his soldiers, presumably to be raped.

The Samarias, because they have rebelled against God, are to be killed by sword, their infants thrown against rocks, and their pregnant women ripped open, murdering them and destroying their fetuses.

King Menahem suppresses a revolt in Tiphsah, destroying the city and puts all it's inhabitants to death, even ripping open all the pregnant women. (To be fair, I'm not certain his actions were coofftopicnded by God in this case.)
