Advice for practicing Iphone/iOS development on windows?

I have been doing some research and understand that generally speaking, you cannot develop and publish Iphone apps outside of OSX and Mac without a huge amount of trouble. However, is it possible for me to have a similar development environment on windows to practice but just not compile or publish with? I am just wondering so that I can practice and get the hang of things before I invest money in a Mac mini.

I too am in your situation, and wish Apple would have made the iOS SDK available to all of us. I do know that the iOS is a very unique language, and that other than web-based sandboxes created by third parties (which I have not seen any of), there is not a way to practice programming anything too similar to the iOS language.
