Air Conditioning on My 1997 Maxima SE is Blowing on My Feet When Off?

Whenever I turn my air conditioning off, air will blow onto my feet while driving. The odd thing is that the air temperature depends on the setting I have it on. What I mean is that if I have the heat at 85 then turn the heat off, the hot air will blow on my feet. It doesn't do this while the a/c or heat is on (unless you set it to the floor vents, obviously)
My car is a 1997 Nissan Maxima 5-Speed.

Help?
