All star game: Best individual players, or rewarding guys for being on winning teams?

The big argument with selecting the all-stars each year has to do with rather stats should override a teams winning percentage. In otherwards, should you penalize a guy whose having an all-star caliber year, for being on a losing team (even though, in many cases, it's entirely not their fault). Likewise, should guys who are on winning teams, who are maybe there teams second or even third option (Ex: Ray Allen, Rashard Lewis,etc...) be selected, based somewhat on the fact, that they lucked out, and just landed a real good gig.

To me, Kevin Durant should have been an all-star this season (I definitely would have selected him over David West).

Anyway, your thoughts.
