Aloha and Positouch Restaurant Point of Sale Question - background program.?

Can anyone tell me if you can run a 3rd party application in the background on a touchscreen terminal running Aloha or Positouch POS software? I want to run a program in the background that will "pop up" onto the Aloha or Positouch terminal that my waitstaff uses.
