Ok to my telescope has an alt az fork tripod mount. I want to take some photographs of the stars but dont want star trails. If I mount my telescope on a bogen tripod and then tilt my camera\telescope to 37° 13' 37" or 37.226° Then dial all the degree indicators back to zero will that allow me to track the stars manually and eleminate trails in long exposures. FYI I am brand spanking new to astrophotography. I do take some mean pics of star trails though.
Ok real quick. Forgot to mention a few things. The telescope is a Meade DS 114, found it in the trash. Bought a 26mm Meade QX WA eyepiece and a 7mm Eyepiece,. I have a tmount for my Nikon and 1 for my canon. As for the Bogen tripd being to flimsy highly doubt it. I have had my 37lb video camera set up on it and it doesnt shake. I actually just got done building a barn door set up for it. So I am going to try that. I have the autostar software. just no cable. I try not to buy anythign commercial. I made my t-mounts, and many of my step down up rings couplers etc.. I am a machinest and have been for about 15yrs. The big problem is I know nothing about telescopes. I have been reading up on them but am getting a little confused.
