I aint a Twi-hard

I am yet another one of those people who are not HUGE fans of Twilight. I don't absolutely, positively hate Twilight, but it's not as good as everyone is making it out to be. The storyline is really predictable! You could tell that Edward was gonna come and stop Bella getting hit by a car. Too easy!!! Also, Edward/Robert Pattinson is the UGLIEST GUY THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN!!(except for some people...you know who you are) Most of the females I know go gaga over him. Come on people!! Take a goooood look....he is UGLY!! The only actor I agree with them is cute in Twilight is Taylor Lautner! With that, you gotta admit, he is good looking. but other than that, you would think they could get more appealing guys than that!!! Wow, now thinking about Edward...i feel a liitle sick! lol!!! anyway. A ending message for you Twilight fans....GET OVER IT!!!!!! XD

I completely agree that the entire Twilight series is absolute drivel. I can express this opinion because I have trudged through every single page of all four books. My girlfriend absolutely loves the series, so I read the first novel because she promised literary gloriousness. I whole-heartedly disagree. The books are slightly entertaining at best, and overwhelmingly boring and retarded at worst. I could give a thousand reasons why Mrs. Meyers books are ridiculous, but I don't have nearly enough space here. Let's just say that she has ruined Vampire and Werewolf mythology and taken the average human female down to her lowest, most self deprecating proportions. Shame on you, S. Meyers, for taking all of womankind down a notch with your "heroine" who is a needy, selfish, clumsy, whining, soulless celery stick of a human being. The fact that these books were actually published doesn't disturb me nearly as much as the fact that so many people...especially females, are enamored with them.

Excuse me..

excuse me mam' but that is not always true about switching school I have gone to 5 different elm. schools 2 middle schools and almost all of them accepted me right away. Not to be rude but I'm just explaining my exprience.

I never caught on to the hype because I just don't understand the appeal. My best friend though, is obsessed and I remember riding in a car with a couple of other people who are just as obsessed with it and wanting to jump out of the car. I've only read the first book, and yes, I was one of those people that seriously couldn't put it down. I'd read it for fifteen minutes, pull out my hair, cringe and pace around the room then I'd go back to reading it for another fifteen minutes. After that, I said... "so what?"
It didn't make me automatically go get the next book in the series and I was left with that bad feeling you get when you're on a diet, eat two slices of chocolate cake, and then afterwards you feel all bad, guilty, and empty. It felt great at the time, sure, but now... you're left with an empty feeling.

This was my cue to stop reading these series.

Personally, I love to read books in which I feel emotionally and mentally fulfilled- happy or sad. I wouldn't care less if it's a really depressing book redeemed by its views on human nature, knowledge, society, philosophy, or emotions. So, when I finish a book, I like to ponder and just explore meanings. Twilight provided none for me, it just force fed my brain a lot of gushy, cheesy, predictable storylines. For those that say, "well, it's supposed to be a fantasy world where you can just let go and not take anything seriously" I say- yes, you can do that but there are other book alternates. BETTER alternates, that can whisk you away to another world and at the same time give you something to learn and enlighten you with. And, when my best friend said "you're looking too much into it, it's not supposed to be something you take seriously" I've thought, "well, you are too are if you have a Twilight wallpaper and a countdown timer on your computer to check the hours, minutes, SECONDS till it comes out on theatres."

I remember reading the first book and something was bugging me. I figured out what or rather, who it was, and it was Bella. She is quite whiny, bitchy and nonchalant, which bugs me even more because it just shows that she doesn't care. That probably also has to do with the fact that she is so clumsy. Ok, we get it. You're clumsy. You can't walk five feet without having to be rescued, and frankly- I got sick of how clumsy she was by the time I got to the second chapter. There are many other characters out there in other books, who despite their faults, have great reedeming qualities, are powerful and enlightening and makes them likeable. I didn't really see any in Bella.

I can ramble on and on about Edward... and how sickeningly perfect he is. He's not that great. There I said it! I thought he was a jerk to Bella at times and I wanted to slap her for letting him and his "gliterriness" blind her. AAAH!! I have to agree with many posts that were put here when they say the relationship that he and Bella have sounds very shallow. More of an obsession if you ask me. I've read many other vampire stuff, and I like it waaay more than this stuff.

I guess the one thing that bugs me the most is how everyone claims that this is such a great, wonderfully written book. No it's not. I mean, it's not hard to read or decipher- for your crowd between the ages 12-17. It's one thing for this age group to be obsessed with the series, but when GROWN adults are obsessed with it and wearing "I  Edward Cullen!" shirts... it's too much. Read it if you must, but please give room to other great works of literature. It's sad really, when most teenagers ONLY read stuff like that nowadays, and especially if it's overhyped. I mean, I've never seen people flock to the bookstores to buy (example) "The Catcher in the Rye" and wear "I  Holden Caufield!" shirts, or any other classic books for that matter.

I'm just sick of all the hype. I was over the series when I finished the first book but knowing that they are going to come out with more movies, and possible alternate story lines related to the story... this thing will probably stick around for a very, very, very long time. And, so will its overly enthusiastic fans. Oh well. At least I got my rant. Take that, Twilight! (haha...!)

Bella is a total slut

For all you people who say that this book is for teenage girls who don't know any better and we're the only ones who'd fall for this drivel, I'm an exception. Having heard from several sensible friends who read decent books like Uglies and Midnighters that this book was brilliant I decided to give it a go. I really wanted to like it. I kept reading it because I was desperate to see if it got any better and there was any action. There wasn't. It took 18 frickin' chapters before the action was even hinted at! I read the other 3 books because my friends kept offering to lend me it and I did it to shut them up. I wish I'd just let them nag. Edward is horribly sexist and not an ideal boyfriend at all. Bella worship of him really pissed me off. I really wanted to kill her, if she was real. Stephanie Meyer kept making Bella go on and on about Edwards perfectness and then Edward went on and on about Bellas, which is unrealistic seeing as he's a vampire and she's a dumb, whiney, pathetic pain in the ass. In Uglies (the best book ever) they talk about what parts of peoples biology people are attracted to.
"Big eyes, like a childs, said 'I'm vulnerable and you want to protect me' " which is clearly what Bellas biology says to the boys around her. And the girls. Only the Volturi managed to meet her and not instantly want to protect her little Patheticness.

New Moon was a total copy of Romeo and Juliet, SM barely tried to put an original spin on that story. They were hallucinating about each other?? Please! How pathetic is that? Although I am grateful that she did the thing with the months going by and Bella not saying anything. 5 months worth of her crap and I would've died.

As for the fight half of Breaking Dawn, that was the biggest load of crap I've ever read. They all prepared for the worst possible scenario and although they apparently didn't want to fight, they were all practising their 'amazing' (cough cough) powers like hell for weeks so they could 'not fight'. And then they (conviniently) managed to convince the Volturi not to kill Renesmee so Stephanie didn't have to put in a what could have been brilliant fight scene and kill an important character, instead of just Irena. Jacob would've been a great one to kill, it would've been the first interesting thing in the book. And I failed to see how 'incredibly' evil Aro was. He seemed ok to me, a good leader, kind of creepy sounding, yes, but looking out for his people. Does that make him evil????

I thought Bella was meant to be the shy and retiring type?? Because she seemed pretty damn slutty to me. She is not the kind of character you want to look up to. Tally and Shay from Uglies would be good, or Jessica from Midnighters, or Elizabeth from Pride and Prejudice (I read whatever takes my fancy really.) But definitely NOT Bella.

Rant finally over.

Aiie...

ok. i have some questions 2 ask you before i start fuming.

1.ARE YOU INSANE!?1?!?!?!?!?!
2.WHAT ON EARTH COULD POSSIBLY BE WRONG WITH THIS SERIES!?!!!??

4.do you WANT a cult of angry twilight luvers like mysef at your doorstep at night trying to behead you????? you shouldnt voice an absurd oppinion like this on the internet.

I see you are not familiar with The First Amendment.

Anyways, yeah, I felt that the series did not live up to the hype. There was too much purple prose; the characters were horrible and did not develop AT ALL; Bella spent so much time whining when everything was handed to her on a diamond encrusted, solid gold platter, and Edward was just plain creepy.

I watched the movie and found it was one of those rare times where the movie adaptation was WAY better than the book.

i HATE TWILIGHT

i hate twilight, it is fucking gay, and i hope the actress in it gets killed, they ruined the original myths of vampires

not that great

I totally agree with you. I honestly don't see what all the hype is about. It's poorly written ,you can see where the plot is going and just wait for the characters to realize the obvious. I admit there is something about it that makes you want to read on(im guessing only to find out where she's taking this ,and that just maybe at some point it will live up to all the praise it's been getting) and then hate yourself for doing so.Thats the thing about twilight its so chessy, every sentence fills you with shame, and makes you just want to tell Meyer screw off..but you just have to know .It's pretty much just brain candy...a fanfiction ,not this amazing work of litrature it's being hyped up to be. What really annoys me is the fact that it's being put up there with actual great works of litrature.

Fuck!

Let me sum it up. VAMPIRES!, MARY SUE!, ADVERBS!, OH EDWARD YOUR MANLY FUCKING CHEST IS SO FUCKING MANLY I THINK I SHALL THROW UP MY INTESTINES AND EAT THEM!

Twilight Really?

Twilight is way over rated. I actually read Twilight, and when the last page came I asked myself, is this it? I'm all for well written literature from all genres, but this book was torturous. I felt absolutely nothing. I might as well have bought a cheap romance novel with the same predictable plot at my local grocer, at least the verbiage might have been better that way.

I hate Twilight

Hi! anyone who reads this sucks! Because I actually loooove Twilight. So you fell for my trap you sucker. Ha ha ha ha.

Um, yes... how many books have you read in your lifetime? Not many i'd think... you're grammar is terrible. The sad part is you're probably an eleven year old girl who thinks she knows real literature. Tell me, do you like this book because it has vampires?: Read Dracula an amazing book. Do you enjoy this book because its a romance?: Ok, ok. This is a horrible 'romance'. Bella is just a damsel in distress, its medeival!! Read a good romance, like Pride and Prejudice! Like it because its both? Read the Sookie Stackhouse books. Read ANYTHING, just don't waste your time on Twilight.

FIRST OF ALL, before I begin my rant, I have indeed read the series and the reviews for this book. I have read the spoilers, I have seen the trailer for the movie and I have read the author's bibliography. So don't flame me on this sort of shit.
Reasons Why I Hate Twilight:
1# When i first read the book I looked at the back (as usual) and it said 'First, Edward was a vampire'. Im sorry, but did we not sped the first 200 pages trying to figure out what the hell Edward is? Way to give out the plot!
2# Edward and Bella do not equal 'love.' It is not love. Its an obsession. An absuive relationship. An indicator suggesting that the female race cannot survive without a perfect, flawless handsome boyfriend. Its is not LOVE and it will never be!
3# I myself know alot about vampires and for some reason, I can't get my head around the fact that The Cullens can survive out in broad daylight! What the hell? And vampires are NOT suppose to be sparkly. Oh sure, write a story with vampires that completly don't resemble them in the least! Could you have at least had the 'no reflection in the mirror' thing? For those who said 'oh but vampires aren't real' or 'she just wanted to change the rules' in some poor attempt to save her diginity, well then, if vampires aren't real then Stephenie Meyer has made a complete JACKASS out of herself cause she said Edward is a vampire and ultimately screwed her WHOLE PLOT LINE (if any) or we would be mocking the BEST 'VAMPIRE' entertainment EVER! (Vampire Hunter D, Morganville Vampires, Hellsing, DRACULA ect ect...) PLEASE, stick to the stereotypical vampire/rules, it'll save us alot of time, pride/dignity and panadol.
4# EVERYBODY hates Jacob. I can understand why in the latest book, but not in New Moon. When Mary - Sue Bella Swan goes all mopey because her 'lovely, perfect and handsome' Edward leaves her, Jacob brings her out of her depression. Do you want her to die and have the series end at the second book? Or do you want it to actually continue? Think about it.
5# Bella freaking jumps off a cliff just to heard Edward's imaginery voice in her head. This does not scream love, this screams 'obsessive, complusive syndrome.'
6# Edward's hot. We get it. Good for you.
7# The stupid author is CONSTANTLY describing things that we've already heard before! (Bella's truck, Edward's perfectness...)
8# There is no plot. Its just 'omg he's so hot! LETS FALL IN LURV!!!!' and the 'omfg people are trying to kill me SAVE ME EDWARD! IM MELTING! OH NOES ITS TOUCHING ME!' Im sorry but I cried because this plot was so half arsed and lame.
9# Bella's POV sucks. He she rants about is Edward, Edward, Edward. I never really found anything out about Edward except for the fact that he is perfect, a vampire and is in 'love' with Bella.
10# Why do the majority of the female population enjoy reading a book that litteraly screams the fact that the female population is COMPLELTY dependent on males? We do not scream our lovers name when someone looks at us. We do not mope around when our 'lover' moves away. No, we keep in contact with them if we can. And we certainly don't jump off a cliff.
11# Bella and Edward = Mary-Sue and Gary-Stu respectively
12# Bella literally gives up her whole LIFE to be with someone that she probably only knew for about a year and a bit. What the fuck.
13# When Jacob literaly sexually assualted Bella, what does Bella think? 'Oh, I might be in love with him!' WOMEN DO NOT LIKE TO BE SEXUALLY ASSUALTED FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!
14# For the least of it all, I do NOT want to visualise a vampire baby that grows is born in two weeks crawl and destroy Bella's spine, pelvic area and uterus. No thank you.
15# EDWARD AND JACOB ARE FICTIONAL CHARACTERS. Don't go around calling yourself Whatever-Cullen or whatever-Black. You must be delusional.
16# I HATED it when she included those 'month' pages into New Moon. Unorginial and it was a lame excuse so you couldn't write the hard stuff. Just go 'months later' or 'this went on for months'. Something a bit more DESCRIPITIVE would be nice! And stop killing trees! JEEZ.
17# Btw, Bella found out that he was a vampire because he was super strong and super fast. I'm sorry, HOW THE FUCK DOES THAT CONVINCE SOMEONE HE IS A VAMPIRE INSTEAD OF A BIOLOGICAL WEAPON ON STERIODS?????!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT THE FUCKERY? HE DIDN'T EVEN SHOW A.N.Y VAMPIRIFIC HABITS! HE GLITTERS IN THE SUN, HE'S PALE, HE THINKS SHE SMELLS AND HE SAVED HER LIFE. THAT'S IT. HOW DOES THAT SHOW 'oh he's a vampire' YOU STUPID TWI-HARDS??? FUCKING NO PLOT WHAT THE HELL. IS SHE JUST DUMB, SMART TO THE POINT OF UNRESONABLENESS OR IS MEYER JUST A HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE WRITER????!!!!! *pant pant* Son of a bitch..... -.-;
18# Bella got pregant. PREGNANT. By a VAMPIRE. Never mind that the only way you can become a vampire is if you are BITTEN, if your a vampire, your going to be dead ANYWAY. Isn't that how Edward became a 107 year old virgin? Nevermind the fact that what, sperm dies after 3 days when your body dies and that it's probably not going to revive any day soon, no less then 107 YEARS and he still got her PREGNANT. And it starts KICKING AT 2 WEEKS because what, centry year old dead sperm just grows. that. fast. And oh look! He's a dead guy, so that totally mean he has a PULSE, WHICH MEANS HE CAN LIKE TOTALLY GET AN ERECTION (please note the sarcasm). He does NOT have a pulse which means he can not get an ERECTION, and don't you need that for "mad passionate mind shattering sex?" And anyway, how could you want a FROZEN DILDO UP YOUR SELF IN THE FIRST PLACE? Bull shit man. Bull shit.
19# Um. This girl got beat up by another girl holding a chair because the first girl just said she didn't find Edward attractive. And this other girl got mugged and hit in the face with a baseball bat cause she told a girl that she didn't like Twilight. What the hell people. And this girl chucked a beaker full of acid at this guy's face cause he said Twilight was crap and then the girl stabbed him several times. With a compass. You guys tell me to stop saying shit about Twilight but fucking hell man, you guys are fucking physcos. Wtf. What the fucking fuck. You need theraphy, like really really fast. I'm serious.
20# There's something I'd like to establish. Firstly, you cannot deny that Bella is pea crap without Edward, am I right? Second of all, Bella throws all her dreams out of the window for Edward, correct? Thirdly, Bella does NOT question anything that Edward does, filling all his actions under 'he loves me' even though removing the engine out of her car so she couldn't visit a friend was pretty pathetic uh huh?
Well then, it seems to us that Bella is a COMPLETLY weak, 19th century, damsel in distress, never had any of her own passions or interests, female "HEROINE." Now that we have established that, let me ask you something: Why do we, or more specifically, I have to be weak and/or need a man to be "the ideal" female? Why, after gaining so many rights and acheiving so many things, why are women STILL potrayed like this in books? From the third century AD Zenobia Palmyra as the famed Queen of the East, to Florence Nightingale of 1820 the first female member to be elected into the Royal Statitical Society to having a countries parliment topped with women in their seats, the leading country being Rwanda with 48.8 per cent of its seats held by women; why are women stil being portrayed so weakly and disrespectfully? It's the 21st century people. Start using your heads.

Twilight Sucks Forum - An Error Has Occurred

If you want light hearted romance then read: The Princess Bride, S.S Morgensen's classical tale of love and adventure
If you want destructive love, betrayal, deception and all that good stuff then read: Wuthering Heights
If you want vampires: Dracula and Morganville Vampires. Enough said.
If you want classic adventure and fantasy: Go read The Princess and the Captain by Anne - Laure Bondoux
If you want suspence: The Women's Murder Club series by James Patterson
If you want to explore the realm of growing up: Go read The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot.
There are better books then Twilight you know, as surprising as it sounds.
Twilight is one of the most awful stories I've read in my entire LIFE. And I've read alot.

twillight fans wanna clarify whats so good about ths book rather then saying "whoooo twillight rocks" or " imma murder u for having an opinion"

sorry for the not correcting spelling/grammar

Twilight when it first came out in 2005 interested people because it was original for the Vampire/werewolf genre. However, where i stand is this. A book isnt about how attached you get to it or how much you can relate to it. Its what you can take from the book and be able to think during your day "What did i subcontiously learn from a fictional book" (which for those who dont know, is why all TV shows after each episode have to have a moral to them)

When i hear about these people such as the person from the first page second post, they drive me crazy because of the things they take from the book. The book was meant to attract a certain audience which it did. However, i dont like to book because it wasnt my cup of tea. I grew up with Vampires and Lycans and Shapshifters, and big foot and Aliens, and they all have a lore to them. When someone writes a book that deviates from the oringal lore compleatly, i havent an interest. Does that mean i havent read the books? No, i've read them all and at times i found it humerous and then at times i knew that in the end you would get people who would respond to critisism with..."What is your name phone number and adress so i can hunt you down and kill you with my awesome vampire powers i aquired from reading this book!!!!!!"

You are going to get kids who think this stuff is reality, which has been a theme for years. When Dungeons and Dragons came out you had people who would mentaly zone out because all they could think about was how to slay the goblen that night or rescue the princess. People are probably going to think that "Well, one day im going to meet my Edward and im going to get married and we are going to blah blah" And its pathetic. Twilight, is one of the worst peaces of literature i've ever read after seeing the reaction it had on so many of its readers.

Some of you are probably thinking "Man this guy just desicrated the bible of geek-dom" Well, im a 18 year old guy with a sense of moral integrity, and i feel if somone didnt tell you to put the f-ing book down, no one would. Your welcome.
