Anyone ELSE ABSOLUTLEY HATE TWILIGHT?

Firstly, I am fifteen years old, I am a twilight fan and, although I can understand everything you people are saying, I think that a lot of the reasons you list for hating it are the reasons why so many people do like it. Whilst reading it, I too could see the cliches, the mediocre writing and the fact that Bella is a Mary Sue. But still, whilst hating myself for it, I could not stop reading. 'Why was this?' I asked myself. Here are my answers:
a) It's the perfect escapism book. Everything's so happy. And what's so wrong with that? People enjoy to read it, it makes them feel good and hopeful about life. You're probably thinking 'real life's not like that though'. So? Surely thats the point of a book. Who wants to read about the boring life of a normal girl? I certainly don't!
b) It's mediocre writing, perhaps even Fanfiction standard. It may not be to the writings of the great Thomas Hardy or Jane Austin but there is no denying that once in a while most people do just want a simple and easy book to delve themselves into without the strain of complex language and in depth themes.
c) It shows Edward to have old-fashioned, respectful views on sex and marriage and, in my opinion, to look for someone who will love you as a person and not an object is most certainly a good message to send to young girls.
Basically, I think that Twilight is simply a book of innocent fun and no one ever proclaimed to be the next Pride and Prejudice. Yes, maybe it does get annoying when people are appraising it to be the greatest book ever written but, to be honest, everyone I know who has read it just has simply enjoyed it. It's not as if they are harming anyone else in the process. I am sorry to say this but quite a lot of haters, in my opinion, are just academic snobs who feel the need to make it known that they are so much more intellectual than the 'stupid fangirls' who read it. Most readers are not idiots and, believe it or not, can too appreciate the works of great authors. Yes, you are entitled to your own opinions but as am I and I personally think so what if its not a masterpiece of literature? If you don't like it, well, then just don't read it. There's no point dwelling on a bad book! Why don't you spend your time reading the works of these great authors instead of wasting precious time complaining about it? (although i do understand that it is sometimes fun to have a good moan) But basically what i'm trying to say is... DEAL WITH IT... because unless you have a magic wand to wave, the fangirls just ain't gonna disappear!

Twilight-JUST A BOOK

I read the first book, "Twilight" and my first impression of the book was literally, "What?" I almost considered reading it again. However, the more I read on in the series, the more it dawned on my how completly useless this series is. I mean, don't get me wrong. The plotline is catchy, but the writing itself along with the derainged ideas on teen love, all spiral up to a decent hate for me. Personally, I did enjoy what I read but, it's so idiotic if you really think about it. SMeyer is not the greatest writer in the world. I'll give her credit for writing this series, but no credit for originalism.
The characters bugged me alot. SMeyer's perception on teen love itself is really... well, it gives young girls the "I want Edward to be my boyfriend, live forever, and... yeah."
Get a freaking clue.
Love does not work like that, and it's certainly not going to happen that way. Remember this is fiction.
I didn't like the Twilight series too much,
I'm not insane about it either,
So I guess I can conclude I would probably not read it again.
It delusions girls into thinking life is only about either dying for the one you love or loving one person in your life for the rest of your life, in this case, forever, which tangibly, cannot happen.
I think giving girls this idea is horrible.
That's pretty much it, but, for those of you who posted comments on how you would hunt down anyone who hated Twilight seriously need a reality check> IT'S JUST A FREAKING BOOK.
You want to read a real book by an amazing author, check out Anne Rice. The original person who came up with this gradification of vampires. Not a dream from SMeyer.

I hate twilight after reading the first page of the first book. But i mostly hate it because of the fanbase. Everytime i go to school i cant get through like 1 class period without hering "OMFG I LOVEE TWILIGHT DONT YOU LOVE TWILIGHT??I LOVEE IT HERE IS WHAT ME AND EDWARDS KIDS ARE GONNA LOOK LIKE.TWILIGHT!!" its like people are junkies on theis book. I got suspended for telling this one girl to go fuck off then i slugged her in her nose bc she sits next to me in like all my class`s and is counting down the MINUTES till twilight comes out and all she talks about is twilight.
Furthermore i cant go on facebook and look at fliar without seeing fliar like "What do you mean twighlight isnt real?" or "heres bob. Bob said twighlight wasnt real. haha bob haha" (bobs hanging or stabbed) I cant wait till this shits over so ppl can get over their lives!!@ '' @

finally some people that understand how i feel. the freaken girls in my class are screaming and shouting with joy everytime the word twilight is mention. all this book is, is just some new fad that the media had hyped up to make money. i mean really. there are like t-shirts, bracelets and other twilight crap being made just so some pre-teen girls and middle age women would buy it, not to mention a movie coming in november

I totally know what you mean .___. I could not get in to the book at all, even if I tried to force myself to read the first 5 chapters and then toss it to the side. My friend bought me the book as a birthday gift as well. And every time I hear them fangirling over Twilight i feel like I want to kill myself or them just so I won't need to hear the "OMG BELLA SHOULD DIE!!!" or "EDWARD IS HAWT! X333 " O___o seriously drives you insane. :/

I Love Twilight

I didn't think it was possible!!!!!!!!!!!!
How could someone hate the best book ever. The reason I love this book is because Bella and Edward are truly in love not many people expierence that. It also helps that they are FREAKING vampires and are AWESOME. I guess you have your opinion an write whatever you want but so can I and I ABSOLUTLY LOVE TWILIGHT SO DEAL WITH IT
ok I am done now

Twilight is for Twits.

I myself, as any TRUE Harry Potter obsessed fan would completely despise this series. If any one compared this to a Harry Potter book, let's just say there would be absolutely nothing left of Twilight. Everywhere I go people are chatting of only 'Twilight=awesomest sereez of bookz ev! rofl YAY Twilight!' Compare the IQ of a Harry Potter geek and a Twihard. The series is such a cliche with your female heroine(supposedly) Bella who is a Mary-Sue and a too perfect vampire Edward who has no flaws. Already, as it is, children and teens my age are misdirected in what real literature is, how to find true love, and that everything on the face of the Earth is not PERFECT! In the series there is no actual conflicts that the characters face! Yes our Mary-Sue, Bella, is clumsy, but that does not count as a flaw on her behalf.

My overall opinion of this series is that it is a piece of crap.

Twilight is for half-witted twits.

Written by a die hard Harry Potter fan.

you my friend, need seriously mental help.
please consult somebody.
i , personally, will get you a psychiatrist's number for you.

Please don not be so deranged in a public forum.

I personally love Twilight, even though many parts of it bother me that I wish I could change. It is pretty sexist with the whole "damsel in distress" thing but I still find it very interesting. I don't care if people call me crazy because I feel this is kind of stupid to be arguing about, because everyone has their own opinion, they don't have to like it or dislike it. I'm only 12, yet I really feel that Stephenie Meyer's way of writing lures in me to want more and makes me connnect with the characters. even though falling for a fictional character may be cheesey, sometimes it is fun to do, and with Stephenie Meyer's great descriptions and way of making you feel like you have almost met the characters, it is easy to do. So, everyone has an opinion and everyone should respect it, even if it is not theit own or if they disagree. Don't spread violence and hate over something as small as a book!!

i hate everyone who doesnt like the twilight series. yall are all stupid. its a great book. faggots.

I absolutely LOVE twilight and the other books. I think that Stephanie Meyer is an amazing writer. I do agree that sometimes the adjectives were a little repetitive but whatever. If you have read twilight and don't like it- feel free to express that. But if you have not read twilight and are criticizing it, thats not cool. I'm actually going to go finish Breaking Dawn right now...

I like the Twilight books. They're fun and entertaining. However, they are terribly overrated. Never have I seen something so overrated in my entire 20 years of llife! Just watch the first 3 seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It's basically Twilight with complex characters, character development, humor that is actually funny, a thick, intriguing plot, vampires that are actually hot (Edward's character is not hot, I'm sorry), witty dialogue, depth, and a main character that isn't a Mary Sue (words cannot express how much I hate Mary Sues). Twilight is an okay read. Not horrible. Not fantastic. Just okay. Deal with it, obsessed fans.

i can't stand twilight

i have never read twilight, i have hardly touched a copy of it yet i despise it with a great passion. This is due to the fact that its the only conversation topic at school now. Honestly, i would rather not hear about vampires all day and it goes to the extent that i sit by myself at lunch time listening to my ipod.

the thought of the movie coming out sickens me beyond comprehension

peace.

mmmm i have read some of the greatest and worst works in the world. when i read the 1st book i was in love with it, i admit it- it really hit that fantasy love in my head- as i read on to the other books i began to really get P'O'ed at the simple oh poor me act that Mary Sue(bella) had. not only to act as if she were the only person ever to deal with a boy telling her ah i dont want to be with you anymore, but to also drag poor jake and act as if she will/want something more then a friendship with him- even after knowing how he feels about her. yes it is just a story that a married mother of three boys typed up in her living room- maybe this book is just a wish that she has for her own marriage- too bad it was writen for young teen age girls- i know a lot of married/single women in thier 30's that would of enjoyed some more then just kissing.
just saying- some really outstanding works about vampires- anne rice- now there is some great books.

Insanity, the best diagnosis

ok. i have some questions 2 ask you before i start fuming.

1.ARE YOU INSANE!?1?!?!?!?!?!
2.WHAT ON EARTH COULD POSSIBLY BE WRONG WITH THIS SERIES!?!!!??
3.What is your name, address and phone number, just so that i can track you down ank kill You with my super awesom vampire powers THAT I AQUIRED FROM READING THE SERIES!!!!!!!!!!
4.do you WANT a cult of angry twilight luvers like mysef at your doorstep at night trying to behead you????? you shouldnt voice an absurd oppinion like this on the internet.
5.(this isnt a question, more of a statment.) you must have not read much good litterature in youre life, because if you cannot appreciate the quality of this art.....YOU ARE MENTALLY UNSOUND!!!!!!!
6.thank you i think i am done fuming.(*takes a deep breath)
7.pls email me at [email protected] i would luv 2 argue with you firther.
byebye, you are insane
-biteme<3

I'd like to start off with:
If you are going to start off asking someone if they are insane (and in caps lock followed by a series of unneeded question marks and exclamation points) I suggest that for future reference you do not add the rest of your complaint. For starters, you asked the original writer if she had read any good literature?

Have you read Jane Eyre? Pride and Prejudice? Shakespeare? Wuthering Heights? My answer for you is likely no as you don't seem to be able to actually write out your posts in actual English. Yes I'm afraid to say 'luv 2 argue' and spelling further the way you did does not qualify you as a judge of anything of GOOD LITERTURE.

I've read half of Twilight now and I have to tell you that I could find at least a dozen or so things wrong with it. I don't plan on reading the rest either... I like Vampires, I think they are a fascination creature to write about but the context of them in this book is... Well... Strange. A vampire? A blood sucking, creature of the night falling in love with the biggest Mary Sue to hit out bookshelves since the world of writing began. The story is fantasy, I understand that, but the non-existent plot and too unrealistic characters is another to drive any English Student up the wall.

Now if you want to argue 'firther' I suggest you re-read the books and ask an English teacher to point out to you every flaw you have apparently missed.

I'm not biased either because I'm a Harry Potter fan, someone asked me if I was just 'jealous' that Twilight was being called the next HP. Now, that very thought made me physically sick simply because Harry Potter and J.K Rowling's writing is simply brilliant, maybe there are flaws in that book too but at least there is an air of realism in a world of complete fantasy, there are REAL issues, friendship, good over coming evil.

A vampire rescuing the typical 'damsel in distress' does not classify as anything over then the sappy stuff our parents tell us when we are five years old. "Yes my darling, Prince Charming will find you... Just like Cinderella." Except my mother wasn't as cruel as to make me believer Princes' really rescued servant girls... lol.

Poster, learn to spell, learn the definition of true literature and perhaps when you pass a book store, purchase yourself a classic, which by the way does not include anything a fan girl could then role play in a classroom of:
"Edward I love you! Marry ME!"
And their friends playing along... I'm seriously disturbed by the amount of twelve years olds pretending they are Bella or whatever nonsense they come out with.

Also, just another little tid-bit to consider:

Fiction is not real. It's something created by a writer to make the reader escape from real life or to imagine another world beyond their own. It is not however for mindless zombies to then run around thinking if they act like the beautiful maiden in distress a Vampire or some out of this world gorgeous bloke to sweep you off their feet. Grow up.

P.S If you’d like to send a load of ‘Twlight luvers’ to my doorstep to behead me and beat me, I gladly accept the offer as I should like to tell them exactly this, I’d also like to marvel at the fact of how a dozen illiterate pre-teens would attempt to kill me. It would prove to be very amusing, could I perhaps invite my Classic lovers to play too, I’m sure a good old fashioned English lesson would be in order for anyone thinking this series counts as anything but childish fantasies.

I agree entirely!
I read Twilight before it got really popular and now that it has gotten so popular, it's repulsive!
I can't go anywhere with out hearing, "Twilight. I Love Edward. I hate Jacob. Bella doesn't deserve Edward, I do!" It's digusting.
Some girls in my class started writing on their books about Edward being 'Sexy' and.........It's just stupid. Plus, they have the ever-so-stupid movie coming out.
Bleh!!!

Twilight = not great

The book was on my students' summer reading list and I was curious to see how it ended. Although, I did, in fact, start caring for the charcters as the book grew on me and I read the entire series but I don't really admit it, I guess I'm embarrassed. The thing is, Meyer isn't that great of a writer. The reason the book captivates young girls is because they think if they become Bella Swan, their Edward Cullen will come in and sweep them off of their feet.
It's cliche, as well. Trying to make vampires sensual and sexy - Anne Rice did that in Interview with the Vampire.
Young girls are also becoming unnaturally obsessed with being a vampire now. Girls: you're beautiful and the right guy will come along, even in the damn book it was random, you can't look for the love of your life, focus on other things and I guess it'll just happen.
Overall, the book was repetitive and cliche. I can see, though, where girls find it acceptable to take their minds off of their own life and become involved with the people in stoires. It's just adolesence.
