I used to like it... about 2 and a half years ago when it was just the first one.... but when it got big and my friends started wearing twilight memorabilia like tee shirts, I lost my taste for it. Besides, the 4th one was kind of stupid.. it took me a while to finish it, I got so bored. p.s. who ever left the killer comment, stop writing poetry on how Edward is going to save you from your horrible life. Your whinny, melodramatic, and need a life outside of black ink on a piece of paper. Nov.18 2008

I cant completely agree with anyone on this... i luv twilight but i read this book before it became popular. i read it in like 2005 when stephenie meyer came to one of our schools for a book signing for a book hardly anyone had ever heard of. so i kind of grew up with the books and i feel like i am one of the first fans. im sick of all the fanatics who go crazy over a book i read long before them. i still luv twilight i just hat all the raving it gets!

The only thing I hate more than crazed Twilight fanatics are stupid, "I knew about it before you did" indie kids.

Shut the hell up and learn to share.

Eh im a 18 year old guy that yes has a life and i really liked the book honestly. Iv read all the books and i personally liked them all. I mean i think its fine not to like the book but don't go around smashing someone’s success and ranting on how much you hated the book or hate the people talking about it. Get over it its just a book after all. And the same goes to the people that are truly twilight crazy, you need to settle down yes it was a good read (in my own opinion) but its just Fictional story, you need to get your head out of the books and live your own life instead of wishing you were in someone else’s.

You know what I think? I'm Emma,14 and used to be obsessed with the book. Oh god. Sounds like the beginning of an AA meeting... anyway.

Twilight is a piece of crap. Stephenie Meyer ripped tonnes of stuff off - (Stealing words out of the band Muse's mouth-great band BTW, copying Romeo&Juliet/Wuthering heights, and then tossing in a few sparkly vampires for good measure.)

I don't think the girls my age that are obsessed with this book because it has a good plotline, or beautiful language, or deep insights. They love it because they love Edward. It is all their teenage fantasies, rolled into one and printed onto paper. I mean, come on, get a bunch of teenage girls to read about some gorgeous guy whose in love and is caring and gentle and sensitive and also a vampire- 90% of them are going to obsess over him.

There is no real plot line- especially in the fourth book. I am fine with the books, just like I am fine with those $2 romance paperbacks you can buy, but to hear people go on and on and on about how wonderful the series is just sickening.

Please, girls who love twilight- read a real book- Wuthering heights, Pride&Prejudice, Jane Eyre- books that aren't the literary equivalent of a jar of treacle.Bleh...
Rant over (also, twilight fans, please don't angrily start ranting how you're going to kill me or anything after this-its just a book!!!)

HI.

None of you except the Milkduds person has any idea of what they are talking about. Twilight is the best book in the history of the world. And no, I am not a 14-year-old girl! It has THE best climax. You people must have been crushed by someone so you don't appreciate romance. Pity, pity. And if that is not you, then this must have been the first book you have ever read, so you have nothing to compare it to. Well let me tell you something. Thing is the best book that has ever been writen, so deal with it. Once again the is the BEST BOOK EVER! I love this book and there is absolutly nothing with it.

Ummm. How about some explanation here instead of just "BEST BOOK EVER" Come on lady get some intelligence. I'm not telling you I hate the book I actually like it. But I have reasons not just repetitiveness. Thank You

Twilight Sucks

I think the whole vampire falling in love with a human idea has been done way too many times.

i read the books like last year and then the fourth which was absolutely appalling by the way!!! so ridiculous!!! the books are fine to read after a long day of hard work just for something easy to read. but it just totally freaks me out when girls say 'OMG i love this book, it's the best book ever!!!' because in a few years you'll probably think what the hell was i thinking this book is absolute drivel (kinda like i do now). Its not the greatest piece of literature ever written (obviously). It doesnt make you stop and think, there are no hidden meanings or if there are they are not very well hidden.

I totally agree with what people say about the chuckling thing it is majorly annoying!!

I have read hundreds of books and this is certainly not the best! i really enjoyed reading it at the time, its just not the best book ever!

try reading something like A Secret History by Donna Tartt or something lighter perhaps Bill Bryson.

um...

couple of random comments:

1) a couple of people mention the count of monte cristo that is a really good book o love it.
2) if you are goingto say people have bad grammar, you really should spell grammar correctly i'm not sure if that was misspelt to make a point or not lol.
3) it may not be very good (that's an understatement) but it is rather enjoyable if you try to see the funny side i want to see the movie just for a laugh, kinda like why i watched high school musical.
4) this series and the obsession over it reminds me of high school musical, although i think the characters in that have more depth.

oh crap now i sound like a high school musical fan...i'm not! i promise lol!

there is a lot wrong with this series i could go on for ages but i'll stick to this one point: how can people be obsessed with a vampire it is EW i mean at least they only suck animals blood but thats still sickening. i'm a vegetarian (which i guess kinda explains this lol) and i find it like disgusting i won't even kiss my boyfriend if he has been eating meet and she kisses a bloodsucker it's just ewewew. lol i sound like a ten-year old. but i'm trying to avoid studying by putting random comments on stuff lol. i say lol alot. i apologise for this lol.

I felt the need to reply. The hype is going insane! Especially with the release of the new movie. I totally agree with you. It's fustrating because these books (and society in general) is pushing/forcing maturity onto young girls...and it's just dumb. My friend said that she actually saw a 9-10 year old buying the book with her Mom. GAH! If anything, those books DEFINITELY ARE NOT BOOKS FOR 9 YEAR OLDS -_-.
It's also annoying to me, because it seems like half-decent novels are being "ditched", I guess you could say. It's irritating because Twilight is not so much about reading, but more so, a trend. There are TONS and TONS of good books out there, but no one bothers reading them because they aren't "cool" enough -_-.
For people who don't read much, I guess the books might be okay, but honestly, I think people need to expand their "library" of books they've read. Not just go on and on and ON about one specific novel.
Anyways, I'm glad to know that not all 14 year olds have been brainwashed by these series, and still have good sense in books, lol.

PS. Kite Runner made me cry...lol.

I don't know who else has heard of it but I swear everywhere single place I go, I keep hearing about this book called "Twilight" by Stephanie Meyers and it is driving me insane!!! I have actually read it and it was terrible. It's directed towards 15 year old girls whose only concern is meeting the perfect guy who will rescue her and basically take care of her and blah, blah, blah ( I’m 14 read the Twilight didn’t bother with the rest of the series), a Prince Charming if you will. It's complete rubbish! The guy is a vampire (yes you heard me) and literally saves the girl like 5 times throughout the book. That is basically the point out of it. I seriously laughed out loud while reading it because it was so predictable and pointless. (Yes I read it. I do not believe in criticizing or praising a book without reading it first) It's 450 pages of a girl somehow getting in trouble and then what's his face comes in the nick of time. And this was an assignment for Honors English, so yes in some sort of way; I was forced to read it.
I have been to countless boards, stores, internet sites where I hear these young women praise this book as "The best book they have ever read." Isn't that tragic? That's the problem with today's society. Young women should be reading classics, empowering stories or at least something they can get something out of. All this book does is reinforce the notion that women need to be rescued and that there really is a Prince Charming waiting to be found and that once a girl finds him everything will be happily ever after from then on or if not that she’ll have a godlike amazingly handsome, immortal vampire dude that is willing to kill the world for you. I was at school the other day and actually saw two of my classmates including my TEACHER crying, yes crying about how Edward saved Bella at the end of the book and how much he really loves her and how cute it is, I of course in a daze, nearly fell off of my chair at how pathetic they sounded HE’S A FREAKIN BLOODY FICTIONOUS CHARACTER, PEOPLE GET A LIFE. I believe in love and I hope every girl who wants to find some amazing guy does but this book is complete nonsense and to hear a 46 year old English teacher dish about how much they love a "Vampire" just really depresses me.
Love isn't magic. There is no such thing as a fairytale and as much as I love the Little Mermaid to believe that's how it turns out with every girl would be a discredit to my intelligence! I would love to see people praise a classic like The Count of Monte Cristo or Pride and Prejudice, The Kite Runner, and A Thousand Splendid Suns. To enjoy a book of fiction or get lost in it is fine but to have faith in it to believe it's what you want for yourself (like marrying a freaking vampire!!! yes, I heard my teacher say she wants to marry this guy!!!) is just mind boggling. Perhaps I am just venting but why oh why is this book getting so much praise?!?!?!

I agree with that and other things. I read this Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse. I'm 13 years old. I USED to love it, until I realized all the flaws in the freaking books. [New Moon sucks by the way.] Anyway, I showed Twilight to most of my friends. Then, they got into it. Then they showed their OTHER friends. And now, everyone loves it. So, now I hate it. Edward is...overprotective, retarded, and totally NOT HOT. Pale skin and bronze hair is not very appealing. Bella is totally a klutz, a damsel in distress, and a total b***h.

The only reason why I picked up the book in the first place is because I'm into vampires. [I'm not a Goth, or anything...] Vampires are awesome and all.. But Twilight just sucks. I got onto the fifth chapter of Breaking Dawn. In all the chapters, I made fun of the book. Her wedding day... She keeps repeating, "I'm ugly!" Well...The Twilight actors and actresses DON'T look the part AND they are ugly. Except "Alice". She actually looks like Alice.

And "vegetarian vampires"? Why would you call it that? That's retarded.

Now, everytime I explain how Twilight sucks, my friends all gang up on me and yell, "NO, IT DOESN'T!!!" They don't really hango out with me anymore. My friends asked me if I wanted to see the movie [*Sigh* I've told them it sucks all the time; do they ignore me?], and I keep repeating, "No, why would I want to waste my money on this crap?"

Twilight Series: XXX Porno?

I was talking to my "friend", I guess you would call her, today and she was rambling on about freaking Twilight. I was like "(name), that book is so bland! The f**king Disney stories are better!" I made some points about the Prince Charming saving the Damsel in Distress thing, and she's like. "Oh, well she becomes a vampire and becomes faster and stronger and blah blah blah..." And I said "What? How?" And she said "Well, they have sex and the baby is a monster and tries to kill Bella and basically breaks her ribs and he has to bite her to save her and blah blah blah..." And I said "So basically it went from a crappy vampire novel to a crappy XXX porno?" I thought she was going to kill me.

I absolutely hate Twilight. I hope Stephanie Meyer gets hit by something. Something big, and HARD.

No. Seriously. Have YOU read any serious piece of literature? You can't even spell your words correctly. Wth.
I used to be under twilights spell...I guess I can say that, and I thought it was just me, but then I talked about it (finally mustered the courage to) with my friend that introduced the book to me and found out that I wasn't alone!!

I don't like how stephanie meyer has to use every girl's deepest fantasy's and desires to entrap an audience, she makes us feel like our own lives aren't really worth living at all, and it can get very depressing.

books should make you feel good, make you want to do something, not wish that you were someone else!!! And i'm 14 btw, so yeah...it's really sad

Opinion ... Those things people are entitled to

Okay well I'm just going to post my humble opinion to this forum:

1. I have read Twilight and loved it, It is an excellent work of FANTASY literature.
2. I'm a 17 year old Male who happens to enjoy reading the arguments of flamers online
3. I really just want to add that everyone is entitled to their opinion of a book or anything else they want to comment on. I myself have read numerous classics (Brom Stoker's Dracula, David Copperfield, Tale of Two Cities, Robinson Crusoe) and some were good where as others, well ... they weren't
4. I think that arguing with nameless faceless people on the internet is a little childish and I'm still a child for a few months
5. I can't believe I'm responding to a forum that is almost a year old

Good day to you all. Happy Reading!

twilight book review

hello everyone. i am the first with a nuetral opinion on this book, now being made into a movie, "Twilight." It isn't exactly the most normal book, and i personally think a vampire actually waiting for true love is basically the lamest idea i have ever heard of. I do think that the story helps girls, who are completely heart broken, hope. I don't think it is worth crying and moping about, and yes that is a bit pathetic your teacher was crying and saying she loves the character or w/e. It is good to have an imagination, and not to give up on love. Of course the guy you may fall in love with in the long run won't be exactly prince charming, but the right guy is out there. I know there is, even if you don't ever meet him. =]
