Are cell phones/internet a destructive force in our society? Yes? No? explain?

That's why people have no social abilities anymore people can't even go out and meet people cause they only know how to talk on the internet or through text messages plus people start all kinds of trouble online causing all kinds of drama and some people literally go crazy if they lose their phone for a few min its like a sick crazy disorder

Mobile phones dramatically affected social interactions.
As did the internet like you stated.

Now its social networking.

So one might say, Technology dictates human evolution.

As opposed to being the other way around.

I think that cell phones and internet have forever changed the social dynamics of our time. Much like the invention of the telephone and television - communication and entertainment forever changed. Some argue that these inventions are destructive to social interactions, with studies indicating that people have become more withdrawn with improvements in technology (even though their "friend lists" have probably quadrupled in size). However, cell phones and internet have likely increased business capability exponentially - with more opportunities than ever to create powerful communication tools while at the same time lowering the barrier to entry for many small businesses. As some of the other commenters have mentioned, they have been essential in many recent political issues - opening up the flow of information and potentially increasing the possibilities for democracy, particularly in the Middle East and Northern Africa.

All that being said, they've also made people get into more car accidents, find it harder to make small talk in line than update their Facebook - and have made ruder people ruder and more annoying with their cell phone habits. I guess you take the good with the bad though. When TV was invented and made widely available for most to afford, people thought it was the end of the world - that peoples brains would rot. However, it's proven to be one of the most effective communications mediums of our time and something that most people would not do without. I guess time will tell, but the same may eventually be said about internet and cell phones.

Yes, Why do you think China blocks off 90% of their internet to their people? In Germany they block off World War information and block things about Hitler. People can use cell phones to plain attacks on the government and the government can do the same thing. The internet can give people away and give us the truths and lies about the government and also information about other countries. Then people will find out that china has 3.1 trillion sitting in the bank while we are over 14 trillion in debt. This will make people mad. Some people won't care. Some people will demand that we start making more goods in USA and raise tariffs. While at the same time people say china is going to buy us out. Which if they did buy us out they would also go down. This is a world wide trade they depend on us as much as we depend on them. People use false information to change the way people think and corrupt people using theirs ideas and opinions. im telling you phones/internet can help people plain out how to kill large amounts of people while at the same time save large amounts of people,so it kind of evens out.
