You can add HD channels for what, $10 a month I believe...?

I also think Directv will upgrade your antenna and receivers for no cost (though they will extend your contract by 1 or 2 years).

With your present TV, I'd stay just where you are as far as Directv service. However, at some point you will get a new TV and then is the time to upgrade your Directv service.

No. I expect you would be highly dissatisfied with Standard Programming. I couldn't stand having a HDTV in the house without upgrading to a HD tier with DirectTV.
