Are TV series on DVD edited?

I've never purchased any show outside of movies on DVD, and was wondering are the shows edited for things like swearing etc. like the are on TV? For example Deadliest Catch and Ice Road Truckers has a tremendous amount of swearing that is edited out for TV. Are they edited on the DVD sets also or are they as recorded as far as language and stuff? Only serious answers please. Thanks in advance for your help and time.
 
some are, some aren't...and some offer both versions...just look for "rated M for mature audiences" and you'll get the ones with the swearing, lol.
 
yeah most of then are edited to make them appropriate to all ages...try buying dvd's that have an age limit of 15 or 18...most likely they wont have been edited. x
