If you haven't given me a chance to say that hell in the biblical sense isn't proven and that it doesn't matter how many people believe it, it's still wrong (as was the case with slavery); then you've answered your own question with an assertion before I even type a single letter.
Because as an atheist I don't believe in Hell so I am not afraid of it and I refuse to pay lip service to something I don't believe in just to avoid a place I don't believe in. I can't decide what is right for millions of people I can only decide what is right for me.
