What do you suppse might happen in other industries that have hit hard times if the U.S. government steps in with a bailout package for the Big Three car makers?

It's a loan, not a bailout; and one of the Big Three (Ford) has said they don't need it.

Completely unlike the financial institutions, which DID get a bailout.

The car industry will continue to plummet for at least 2 years. Assuming we use the words of the CEO's -- it'll take 8 billion dollars collectively per month to stay afloat.

8x24 = 192 billion at least.

They need to declare chapter 11 -- it's called reality.

EDIT: N. Cognito....a loan? They haven't turned a profit in 30 years...how exactly do you expect them to pay back anything, let alone a 130 billion dollar handout? You're day dreaming if you think they'll pay it back. Check their financials -- www.sec.gov

its paying money into companies that have failed to compete in the market, 100 percent investment and close to 0 returns,all it will do is keep there workers afloat until we realise we are bankrupt
