It's an early 90s CBR1000F. According to the owner one of the wires going from the left handle bar controls to the ignition gets hot once the bike gets started and idles. He has not dared to take it for a ride in fear of blowing the electrical system. Any idea what might've happened while stored?
Apparently the bike doesn't have any rust and it was stored dry and rodent safe in a garage for a few months.

Chances are that it was a problem in the making when it went into storage uness somthing damages it like mice or corrosion. Pull the connector and look at the terminals for corrosion and loose pin tension. If you narrowed it down to the circuit, then you can do a voltage drop test through the cuircuit and verify where the high resistance is at. It is most likely at the connector.
