DVD - contains video that was the height of technology in 1948. It is a high-tech way of storing very old video quality.

BluRay is HD quality - 70 years more advanced. While you could argue numbers - the picture is about 7 times better.

Once you get used to HD - you can tell the difference between them and standard def - even on a DVD.
