bluetooth headset won't pair with my ps3?

its my dads headset and i want to use it on my ps3. its an icon ps3 bluetooth headset. i don't know what to do and he's away so i can't ask him.
i've got my ps3 scanning, but it wont pick it up its frustrating me
please help?

You have to put the bluetooth in sync mod idk what kind it is but most the power button flashes when it's in sync mod
