BMW speed limiter E46 325i ?

Is there one on a 2001 325i? If so, is it possible to remove it without harming the computer, or MUST you take it to a dealership to remove it? I wish to take the limiter off, not to go fast, but because it's stupid to have one on it, plus I love to mod my car.
 
Not sure, I just wanted to point out that the speed limiter is on cars imported into the US. The same model BWM sold in Germany wont have a limiter, but if it gets imported to US, then it must have one. But I think the governor is in the cpu chip itself. You'll probably have to get a new chip or get it reprogrammed.
