cable modems and ps3's?

i've heard how routers can affect online capabilities, but can cable modems affect your online ability.


if so what are some good cable modems to buy for a ps3.
 
if you have cox the motorola modems are always good, but make sure the modem has an ethernet port
 
i shouldn't affect it much. usually cox uses nothing but MOTOROLA modems and most of them have Ethernet ports. just make sure all of the connections are secure or something might go wrong.
