I have a collection of vhs videos I bought years ago, I'm talking about 10 -15 yrs. ago. I'm considering buying a dvd recorder and recording these vhs videos into dvd's is this possible? I heard that you can't because of some copyright protection, but there are some people that say there's filters or some other stuff that gets rid of that problem, please help.... the thing is that I don't want to buy a dvd recorder and won't be able to record all of my old vhs tapes, it will be a waste of money and of my time. I know there are people that woulds know about this, trust me I'm behind all this technology. thanks for your time

Need a VHS to digital convertor and a dvd burner.

Here is a link for you.

It's a great idea to put the video tapes onto dvd's. I do it all of the time.
Many of the older vhs tapes don't have any copy protection, but it is illegal to copy them. However, you may want to consider the dvd's you make as a 'backup'.
There are two basic ways to make the dvd's.
The first, (and the easiest) is to buy a dvd recorder /vhs recorder. You simply run the vhs tape and use a blank dvd to record onto. This can be costly, though.
The second option that I use is to buy the correct software and cables.
I recently bought a newer version of Roxio's Easy Media along with a cable called a 'Dazzle' video cable to connect the vhs player to your computer. That cost is about $100.00, but you can also buy the Dazzle cable separately if you have software.
Then you play the video directly into your pc and create the dvd there.
