Can a off duty officer take pictures of a car doing doughnuts, and prosecute them?

I was in a random parking lot and a guy took pictures of my truck (90% sure he got my plate number on camera)....well i wanted to know who it was so i walk up to his jeep and he pulls out a badge...my friend followed him home in his truck and a cop car was in his drive. Can i be charged with anything? There were no cars in lot and it was dark. Thanks
how long do the police have to notify me of conviction ? How will the notify me?
 
if you were in a private lot then your ok. but if the owner of the lot called cops then your not ok. as far as following someone , no problem as long as you go on after you seen what you wanted to see. thats why we call them public streets !
 
depends on which lot and where this happened.

the evidence is admissible in court. Police officers are never "off duty" like you want to think.

however, many states don't bother with driving citations on private property. of course, if you were endangering parked cars -- you deserve it.
 
Yes, you violated the law.
You also followed spied on a person, that's illegal too.
Off duty only means taking a break, allowed to go eat, not duty, but obligated to enforce the law.
It doesn't mean they lose thier power as an officer of the law.
