Can a school expel me for having my cell phone out?

Today I had my cell phone taken away in school for the second time. I was watching a YouTube video in band class.

I was assigned a Saturday Detention, which I have no problem serving at all. I looked in to my school's agenda to see what they could do if I got it taken away next time- and it says the school has the right to expel me the third time it is taken away.

Is the school really allowed to do this? It sounds way too fucking absurd.

Yes, they are. Schools can expel students for repeated violations of school rules. Maybe you should leave yours at home.
