Can I eat rice that is from the year 2005? It is a side dish type thing in a package?

Spices and dry rice in a package - can it be eaten?
I ate a couple of packages from 2009 a few weeks ago.
I am hungry and need to go shopping and have this left over rice package from 05. Enough for a bowel.
Supposedly rice doesn't go bad I've heard. One just has to check for bugs. You can eat rice that is hundreds of years old! It's preserved! Just ADD WATER! But there aren't any. It's a sealed package!
Thank you!

sell by or best by ? most of the time its away to make the super market take it off the shelf and buy more of that product i would cook it eat it and love it

yes
but it won't be as good

I just had some "Rice a Roni" that expired in 2008, it still tasted fine.~

hi Eric, it should still be edible, the Chinese supposedly keep 7 years supply before they export any. However the spices might be beyond their best. I hope this helps, all the best. Rab
