christian perspective? I? I quit dipping smokeless tobacco like 1 day ago, as a Christian, I felt that an addiction is wrong. However, I would like to know how coffee is deemed acceptable as a christian. Many "need" it every morning, so what's the difference? Yeah, it is unhealthy too. So what is the deciding factor that determines coffee or caffeine to be ok, but tobacco not?
Ok, thanks for the responses, obviously some people are angry at me for asking this question, probably because it says that I'm a christian, I bet if I left that part out, then it would've been no big deal. Oh and Michelle, who is forcing my beliefs on someone else, bitter much? Don't tempt me to come back to your world, I can roll with the best of you. Ne way I appreciate the responses, in my opinion they are both drugs and they are addictive, I love how some people said tobacco kills and caffeine just keeps you awake, seriously? Lets do some research first, I know I'm sarcastic, I shouldn't be, I just love the excuses that people use for the particular drug they are on, ne way thanks for the replies
Pastor Art, thank you for your reply, I do however have some questions, some current research links breast cancer in women to caffeine intake, however it is only suggested, the problem I have is that whether it causes cancer or not, whether you can break the addiction faster or not, is irrelevant, I don't understand that theology. I stopped dipping 25hrs ago, threw it in the trash, haven't had one since, been dipping for 12years. In my opinion, an addiction is an addiction, whether it causes cancer or not, whether the recovery times, are shorter are not, they both present us with adverse side effects to the body ie our temple.
Midnight.....your hilarious, "that's where they start cherry picking", I love it, so true bro, and I'm a born again Christian, I agree, think about when smoking was the social standard and now it's taboo, but kids march into tanning booths on every street corner, people drown themselves in coffee because they can't even function without it, and yeah by people I mean the church. Thanks for the humor.
The Bible, thank you for your honesty, I appreciate that.
Jane I like your answer too, thanks.
Ok God's servant you had to go there, as a Paramedic I'm pretty familiar with effects of certain drugs as well as the current studies and recommendations of "medical science" as you put it. Coffee in itself is most likely not the problem, it is the caffeine which accompanies it, nausea, dizziness, tachycardia, hypertension, palpitations, and cardiac arrythmias are a few of the possible side effects.
