Can you play computer games on an Ipad?

Okay so I'm thinking about converting to computer games because they seem so much more intense then other games for ps3. I was wondering though if you can play games like skyrim on the Ipad, because I know you can play it on the computer, and please no smart remarks just an answer with an explanation would be enough, thanks and 10 points for best answer :)
Link if you see this thanks for all the info but could you give me a name of some sort of cheap yet reasonable laptop/computer that can run modern games?
 
Ok you can play facebook games on it and there are also games on the appstore some free some pay but some games that are somewhat the same as a pc game are Pocket Legands free The walking dead is one that can be played an xbox ps3 pc android and ios for the first episode to unlock all other episodes is 15.99 I also hear Diablo 1/2/3 are coming to the appstore as well you can also go to Bing.com and search for games there that you can play online or some will redirect you to the appstore whare you can buy or get the game I also heard that a World of Warcraft might also be coming to the apple appstore p.s. I heard a rumor that apple is make an update for the ipad that makes it more like a pc whare you can download music and illegally download pc games or even buy them off the website (recomended)
 
Skyrim? Not in a million years.

The iPad only has a Dual-Core processor in it, an A6-X one at that. The iPad also only has an integrated GPU on it's motherboard, not good for modern games.

A good gaming desktop always as a quad-core or higher CPU in it, as well as preferebaly an Intel CPU, as it's better for gaming. A good gaming desktop also always has a nice GPU in it, or graphics card. Like I said before, the iPad only has an integrated one, which means it's preinstalled on it's motherboard.

EDIT: The best bang for your buck in the market right now is the HP Pavilion g7-2233cl.

It has a quad core CPU with 2.8GHz when it's on Turboboost, which is pretty decent for only a $400 dollar laptop. It also has an AMD Radeon HD 7640g Discrete-Class with up to 3GB graphics card, which is a very good GPU (graphics card), for it's price. One of my friends recently bought this computer because he asked me to find him the best laptop for 400 bucks or less, and this is the best I could find in the market today.

He now has it, and can play games like World of Warcraft on full Ultra with only a -LITTLE- bit of choppiness. If he were to crank down the shadow quality, though, he would be playing that game at full smoothness.

With this laptop, you could also most likely run Battlefield 3 at low/medium setting at perfect frames/smoothness. (Smoothness over quality, right?).
