I still like to read some select vampire/mythical creature series in the young adult section.. the "marked" series is good if you're into that. I've always been into that kind of thing before it became a rediculous epidemic. It's about a girl who lives in a while where people know vampires exist, and when they reach a certain age a vampire comes to mark all those who are to become vampire and go to a vampire finishing school if you will. She ends up having special abilities, like she is the "chosen one' to set things right that have gone wrong with the leader of her school who wants to start war with humans and kill them.
And if you're the type that likes a good cry somtimes, The Art of Racing in the Rain. It's about a dog who is at and welcomes the end of his life and it's through his point of view.
