Can you use PA speakers with a home theater reciever?

They would probably work so long as you matched the impedance. But speakers designed for Public Address systems are usually very narrow range responsive. You would need tweeters and woofers as well.
 
I know some pa speakers have a bare wire connection. Can I use those PA speakers with my home theater receiver?
The kind of speakers I am looking at are also called DJ speakers

not totally sure what to call them but they have a mid/woofer thing and a horn or tweeter. I know my speakers really well actually but not when it comes to the PA stuff. Just the home theater stuff. Why are the 2 systems so different? idk...but I want more punch out of my bass and home theater subs will never do it for me. They're always hitting too deep and are giving me more bass noise than they are punch and it's frustrating me.
