Last night after I left work, I entered the left hand turning lane of an intersection. In the lane directly across from me, there was one car with her left hand blinker on as well. My light turns green, so I make my turn. I am in the middle of my turn when the other drive suddenly moves to the "straight ahead" lane and proceeds to speed through the intersection, hitting my passenger side door. She made no attempt to stop, swerve, or even slow down and I have witnesses to attest to that. Purely speculative but I think she must have been looking down. Also, I pulled my car over and put my hazards on but the shoulder was very narrow so I pulled into the nearest parking lot and called the police. I never saw the other driver again and witnesses said she kept driving straight through.
I am aware it is perhaps a failure to
yield on my part. However she hit ME, and also left the scene of an accident. Would a hit-and-run charge void a failure to yield citation (if I even get one?) Also, if she called and reported the accident later, is it still a hit and run? I'm 19 and from Missouri.
