Car speakers: Infinity or Alpine?

My front doors take 6.5" speakers with room for a tweeter. I want to get 2-way 6.5" component speakers. I've narrowed down to 2 in my price range: the Infinity reference series and Alpine Type-R. I think at this point it probably comes down to brand preference. I'm leaning toward Infinity, just because when I went to the store to check them out, it seems like the Infinity's gave a more robust sound, and accented the highs really well. The Alpines seemed to handle the lows a little better. However, I have a pioneer headunit with a really intricate equalizer, so I'm not even sure if they way that they sound in the store even matters, since it's likely something that can be fixed with the eq in my headunit in my car.

Anyone have any experience or had to make the same decision? Any input, thanks.
