Catholics and others, why was the Trinity concept not more...

...clearly/consistently taught by Christ and others? Yes, there are some scriptures that point to the Trinity (Father/Son/Holy Ghost all one being) such as John 1:1 and John 10:30 (although the second one is suspect at truly pointing towards a Trinity) among others. Then there are many more that point towards physically separate beings such as Ephesians 1:17 & 20 (Two beings and one resurrecting the other), Matt 3:16-17 (three separate beings; one speaking, one in the form of a dove, and one physical body being baptized), and Matt 16:16 (why didn't Jesus respond to this by saying something like, "Right, and I am not only the Son, but I am also the living god himself - the father" instead of just saying "right"?).
So, the question is there, why wasn't it more clearly/consistently taught by Jesus and other disciples?

The Doctrine of the Trinity which teaches that Jesus is NOT God,although holding wide-spread belief,is not of particular interest to God.It's a human teaching.Primarily its a mental block theologians like to play with.:hammer punch:

it is clear to ME and to many others like me who study scripture.
scripture is sacred and covert, intentionally so .. by God.
God is secretive and makes known secret knowledge ONLY to His children. Fact.

find out the meaning of the NAME .. Jesus.
then find out the meaning of the NAME ... Jehovah.
then find out HOW is it a virgin is able to produce a child.
the PURPOSE of this birth, the attributes of this child ..

i am a protestant.
do some homework, the Truth is there ... loud and clear.

catholics are encouraged not to read scripture since only the priests are able to u.stand.

Part of the reason is that scripture emphasizes the concept of only ONE God. This was and is necessary since mankind was plagued with many forms of idolatry. Also mankind was not qualified to enter heaven until Christ rose from the dead. And since the role of Jesus is salvation, the role of final sanctification is that of the Holy Spirit. And Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to teach us all truth. One must remember that the true nature of God is always above reason and can never be understood properly in that manner. Yet, God refuses to hide His true nature from mankind but indicates that the best method of understanding and accepting the Trinity is by viewing God as pure Love. Those who approach the Trinity by way of love have no problem with the academics of the Trinity since reason is perfected in love and defers to love for the true source of its knowledge in this matter. The Trinity then becomes a thing of great beauty. Because the Trinity now emphasizes the scriptural conclusion that God is and has always been a concoction of love. Love itself is the great mystery of life and the basis and motive for all of creation. And that is really what the Trinity is all about. It's always been there as love in scripture.

No 3rd part in John 1:1 & John 10:30 where is the 3rd part of the trinity?
I don't see a 3rd part of Eph1:17 & 20 either.
(Matthew 3:16-17) After being baptized Jesus immediately came up from the water; and, look! the heavens were opened up, and he saw descending like a dove God’s spirit coming upon him. 17*Look! Also, there was a voice from the heavens that said: “This is my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved.”
God is a Spirit, this does not say the Holy Spirit.
(Matthew 16:16) In answer Simon Peter said: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
They all knew he as the Son of God, not God.
Because Jesus also said that he did not do things of his own thinking but of the One that sent him. Therefore, no trinity.

Elmer is right as Savannah; the trinity doctrine is 100% false; it comes from paganism.
Did the true church ever teach a trinity?
http://www.cogwriter.com/trinity.htm

Is God really a trinity? Think for a moment! Is this really taught in the Bible? Let me show you some faults of the trinity.
Flaw 1: If God the Father & Jesus our alike/same according to trinitarians; then wouldn't Jesus know when He was coming back? The Bible says in Matt. 24:36 and Mark 13:32 God only knows, not Jesus!
Flaw 2: Who was Jesus talking to in Luke 22:42? Was Jesus talking to himself or was he talking to God the Father; meaning they are two separate people?
Flaw 3: If the Holy Spirit was a person like trinity says; would that mean that the Holy Spirit is the Father of Jesus? See Matthew 1:18.

In the Bible; most will try to support the trinity by citing John 14 and 15 and 1John 5:7; let’s look at these verses. In King James Version; it says “comforter” while New King James Version says “helper”; the Greek word for “helper” (in the Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible by James Strong) is parakeletos (3875); one who helps in which points to the Holy Spirit. In Greek, the word “He” (3739) is neuter such as hand is feminine whether it is a female’s hand or male’s hand; this however doesn’t prove personhood. As for the word “parakeletos”; it is masculine and always require a masculine pronoun.. As for 1John 5:7,8; it was never in any of the Greek manuscripts; the Holy Bible New International Version by Zondervan Publishing House confirms this on the bottom of page 864; it tells us that “1John 5:7,8 was not found in any Greek manuscripts before the sixteenth century.” According to the Bible; what is the Holy Spirit? In concordant with many versions of the Bible except for King James; the Bible says in John 4:24 that “God is spirit”. [The word for “spirit” in the Greek is “pneuma (4151); look at the definition.] ”The Holy Spirit is the very essence, the mind, life and power of God. It is not a Being. The spirit is inherent in the Father and the Son, and emanates from Them throughout the entire universe (1Kings 8:27; Psalms 139:7; Jeremiah 23:24). It was through the Spirit that God created all things (Genesis 1:1-2; Revelation 4:11). It is the power by which Christ maintains the universe (Hebrews 1:2-3)."---Living Church of God Beliefs, sub-heading “Who is God?” (Site: http://www.lcg.org/statement-of-beliefs.shtml). It is the same power that all believers can be made into “overcomers” (Romans 8:37; Revelation 2:26,27), which can direct them to eternal life. In the Bible; the Holy Spirit is addressed in many ways; as we mentioned, one of the ways it is represented is by the Greek word “pneuma” which means “wind” or “breath”. [The definition of pneuma can be found in sub-heading “What is Spirit?” in Webshots Community User: Morrisonmcdf1.] Another analogy the spirit is spoken of as, “is of flowing water” (John 7:38-39). As air and water are necessary for us to live; they are life-giving forces that we need to survive; how wonder the spirit is addressed in this way; It is the source where Christians can have eternal life (Romans 8:11).
