celebrity question brad pitt main character?

everybody believes that brad pitt is the main character in fight club. i've argued this for years now. the main character HAS to be edward norton because he's the narrator, he's the first person you see in the movie, and you see everything from his point of view. am i wrong?

not only that, but he dies in the end.

Ed Norton is the narrator, and Ed Norton is responsible for doing all the things Brad Pitt does during the movie.

Simply put - without Ed Norton's character, Brad Pitt's does not exist.

I would have to agree with you that Ed Norton is the main character- in fact Brad Pitts character is Edward Norton's character (just an alter ego). An alter ego cannot be the main character.

they are both the star of the film. but since mr. pitt supposedly did an awesome job in the flick all the attention went to him and his character instead of both great actors.

Edward Norton is the only character in Fight Club. Brad Pitt exists only in Norton's mind. Therefore, you are correct.

I think in the end Edward Norton is supposed to be the main character, but Brad Pitt can't be just a supporting actor since his character is so prominent.

I guess I would say that I think they're both lead characters meant to have just as much spot light as the other.
