...so what do you recomend to someone? who has tried to be christian, prayed and read the bible but still finds it to be a ridiculous fairy tale that is so obviously man made, that I have a hard time not laughing at the people who believe its true?
That's okay. I applaud them for actually reading the book rather than pulling quotes from sites like evilbible.com because they shamelessly lie and misrepresent the Bible. If you feel compelled to laugh that's okay, but if I were you I would consider how much it means to some people. No reason to tear a person down just because you disagree. The question I have for you is if you were sitting down with Saint Augustine or some other Classic Theologian would you still feel like laughing?
well I'm not Christian or any other religion, however I believe in God, but every translation of the bible is fake because humans are corrupt and this corruptness is what translates the bible. People don't realize that translating the bible is like being a politician. It is power, because a majority of people believe it and follow it, therefor it is control. Certain parts are true but some are bullshit and the bullshit ruins the truth of it. I Don't laugh when reading the bible (actually I listen to others read it...once for a few diff religions) I do find myself dumb founded that people buy into it.
Do you approach the Bible with your mind? If so, you have made your first, and the most grievous, error.
I wondered for almost twenty years about life, God, Jesus; I sought out other religions and spiritual paths, I looked and looked. Eventually, one day, I went to an Orthodox Liturgy, and was introduced to the priest there. As I was explaining my journey, the priest answered me in a way that was the truest words ever spoken on understanding the Bible. Using both words and gestures, he answered:
"First learn what's in here (pointing to the heart);
THEN learn what's in here (gesturing his hands as if opening a book, representing the Bible)".
That is when the Bible became more clear to me.
Put the Bible aside for awhile. Discover your own heart. If it is open enough, your mind will follow. If it is not, you can never understand.
From what I've gathered around this site...it is best to yell and laugh at those people and then call them "too ignorant to believe".rofl.Kind of hard not to laugh at that.
