Did Glasnost mean an end to the control of Poland, Czechoslovakia (satellites) etc... but not other other states, ie Ukraine and Belarus?
thanks... i'm just getting a tad confused with all my reading. i just want to know in plain english....
so did Gorbachev have no problem with letting Poland and East Germany go... but didn't intend closer soviet states, ie Ukraine, to gain independence?
