A friend and I are doing a school project on radio waves and network administration. So, we tied the two together. Our school has a Starbucks about 3500' to the South-East of the building. With a BiQuad antenna on the roof (Single Story Building) mounted to a dish pointed at that public hotspot. Our goal is to take that signal, and rebroadcast it inside the school for wireless laptops to connect to.
What do we connect our long range antenna to? I know it can be connected to a wireless PC card, but then how will we rebroadcast the signal? Can we use a secondary WiFi card and set it up as an Ad-Hoc to share the internet connection of the card connected to the antenna?
We want our signal that we rebroadcast to have a WAP2 Password encryption, and have a hidden SSID. If anybody knows what we need to accomplish this, please assist.
Our school does have an IT department, but they restrict everything programming related for "Hacking". We are setting this up with permission as a network for one or two laptops.
