How do I connect a Linksys WRT54G router and Motorola 2210 DSL Modem? The last router I had, a Netgear, worked fine..all lights on Linksys are green...I can log into the Motorola modem at 192.168.1.254 and it is set to default. PPPoE setting, when set to bridged, all connections lost so it's back to PPPoE, the Linksys is set to DHCP auto, I have tried to set Linksys router to PPPoE also but still no internet...so everything is now at default settings on Motorola DSL modem and Linksys router...am I missing something? From step 1...how can I do this? Does Linksys and modem have to be connected together first and the change the settings, if any? I have XP SP3 and the modem without router works just fine. Just what do I have to change in modem and router to make this work? Not a networking guru but I can follow directions. Thanx.

Your modem is probably not bridged to the router. To resolve this:

1. Connect computer directly to the modem
2 Open Internet Explorer
3 in the address line enter 192.168.1.254 and enter
4 Log into the modem with your email address and Password
5 Navigate to "Connection Type"
6 Change "Connection Type" From PPPoE to Bridged Ethernet.
7. Save Changes.
8. Connect Modem to Router
9 Power Cycle the Modem.
10 Surf
11. If you are still having problems contact your DSL Customer Service. If you want to talk to someone in the United States call Monday - Saturday 8 am to 9 pm EST

A common mistake that is made, people plug the cable from the modem to the router into the LAN port instead of the internet port. I'll look around to see if I can find any other solutions, that's the most basic and first one I could think of. Hope it helps!
